2014 is here!

2014 is here and I resolve to get caught up on the blog!!! Well, not really. In fact, truth be told, it's April. The end of April. But better late than never right??? :) Here's a recap of January and February.

We were so excited for the new year that our hair was standing on end! Too corny?

"Special eggs" = pureed spinach mixed in with eggs and then scrambled. The boys love them! Note the Christmas p.j.s in January. I can only be on top of so many things at once ok? And today it was eating healthy. Check!

We went to the circus and I could not have even imagined how much both boys would love it! Finn was mesmerized by the animals and the performers. He is STILL talking about all the things he saw....the motorcycles, the elephants, the little dogs. And Henbo boogied to the music! Seriously, I could barely hold him he was dancing so hard!

The delicious snacks helped too. The popcorn and the dippin dots served in a blinking glass were at the top of the list.

Finn scratched Henry's face. Not cool Finn! But look how adorable and unconcerned Henry looks.

This is how Finn reacted when I told him Nanny wasn't coming to visit.
First shock and disbelief....

....then horror....

 ....then complete melt-down....
Just kidding. This is actually how he acted when I told him he couldn't have another rice krispie treat. But, I e-mailed my mom these pictures with the subject as: "Finn misses Nanny", and she promptly came to visit. Mission accomplished.

Something so weird and upsetting happened at the beginning of January. Henbo broke his little leg! And really nothing even happened to him...he was just pulling up on the open dishwasher door and fell down on it wrong. He cried a bit more than usual after falling (he is tough and rarely cries when he gets hurt) so we didn't think much about it. But the next morning, he wasn't pulling up or putting any weight on it so I knew something was wrong. Also, he would hysterically cry when I changed his diaper. I decided to take him to the doctor, even though I actually thought I was probably over-reacting. Dr. Stone did a super-quick exam and when he told me that he thought it was broken I.could.not.believe.it! We headed over to the hospital for an x-ray which was kind of a nightmare because I had only the single stroller (i.e. no way to effectively wrangle both boys at once) and a limited number of snacks because I didn't think we'd be away from home that long. Henry was so so sweet and cooperative during the x-ray and surprisingly, Finn was really well-behaved for a 2-year-old. I think he could tell that I was hanging on by a thin thread! Then we had to wait for the x-ray to be read and 30 minutes later Dr. Stone called to confirm that indeed it was fractured! I know I already stated this, but I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! He told me that Henry would be fine for the night and that we could take him to the orthopedist in the morning. Matt took him the next day and the pediatric orthopedist's PA said that he wasn't sure that it was actually fractured but that we should splint it for 2 weeks just in case. So he wrapped it up and sent them home. I was worried that Henbo would hate the splint and it would drive him crazy, limiting his mobility. Well, it did none of those things! I should have known that sweet Henry would take it all in stride like he does everything else. He continued to be an awesome sleeper at night, crawl all over the place, and even pull up on the furniture. Plus, that little splint somehow only made him cuter! Here are some pictures of him rockin' it!

This is the day we went to see if it had healed enough to take the splint off. These orthopedists' office is so gigantic that we had a pager (like you get at a restaurant) so that they could buzz us when it was our turn. Crazy! We had a wait a long time but of course Henbo was an angel. The PA said his leg looked great! He was still questioning whether it was actually ever broken, but I know we erred on the safe side by doing the splint and I have no regrets.

Here are just a few cute pictures of us playing.

Finn can be so sweet when he wants to....

It might not look like it, but this is actually a "hug".

Note the scratches on Henry's arm....that is NOT from a "hug", but from a "grab".

Clearly though, he doesn't care!

Twinsies!

Back at our favorite place: The Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island. Matt wanted to buy this ridiculously large turtle for the boys. Even though I know they would've thought they'd died and gone to heaven, I had to say no.

My birthday was celebrated for several weeks, which is how it should be! My mom came to visit and she and Finn made me a cake.

He bakes best with no pants on.

This was the sunrise I woke up to on my actual birthday. A love note from God. The picture doesn't even do it justice.

I happened to have my birthday off work, so the boys and I packed a picnic lunch and headed to the park. It was a gorgeous day!!!
These two LOVE to swing!

Henry especially loves it.

Finn is such a big boy. Not afraid of climbing or sliding at all!

I thought I would get a cute picture to send out for Valentine's Day. Basically, I thought wrong.

Finn was determined to sit up on this little black railing....until he fell backwards off of it. Kinda funny actually. But they would NOT look at me!

Finn decided to pick up this mulch, and since I can read his little 2-year-old mind, I immediately began warning him not to throw it. "Don't do it Finn."

"DON'T DO IT FINN!"

He did it.

"Finn don't do it again."

"Stop."

"Don't!"

"It's going to get in your eyes!"

Sometimes I can predict the future. ;)

That photo shoot was obviously over. Oh well, at least the swinging pictures were cute. We had our picnic and then went home for naps. A perfect day!

The birthday fairy got caught on camera blowing up balloons. :) These guys think they're sneaky!

I'm sorry that my child is cuter than yours. Just kidding. But really, look at him!!! Ok, admittedly I'm biased. :)

Poor Henry. His hair was getting so long in the front and it is SO straight just like mine is, so instead of taking him to a professional who gets paid to do this sort of thing, I just cut it myself while he was sleeping in the car seat. Finn was like "What are you doing to Henbo?"....I think he was a little bit terrified when he saw me with the scissors.

Matt and I went to the Dentac Birthday Ball....it was kinda nice getting dressed up.

Here's Henbo and I before we left. He's very proud of his new haircut.

Here's Henbo trying to bite my shoulder. He does this ALL THE TIME. Every day. He bites me. Only me actually.  Then he looks and me and smiles. He thinks it's cute. It kind of is, which is why it's hard to fuss at him.

Finn loves these little things you can ride on. I try to remember to always have quarters in my purse because his pure joy is just adorable.

He did not like sitting in this tree. Well, he did at first, but once Matt walked away, he was ready to get down. On this particular day he threw such a fit when I was trying to get him to leave the park that I literally had to drag him along the grass kicking and screaming (while holding Henry), sweating and silently cursing the whole time. I thought that if I could just get him to the car (i.e. in private, away from the seemingly hundreds of eyes staring in disbelief) I would kill him. Not my favorite motherhood moment.

Finn and Aunt Dody love to snuggle with this "What Does the Fox Say?" blanket. If you don't know what "What Does the Fox Say?" is, just consider yourself lucky. If you've been around Finn for more than 5 minutes though, there is no doubt that you are more familiar than you'd prefer with this song/video/book.

That wrapped up January and February. Soon Henry would be a year old. Wow!
