2013 Wrap-up Part 1

One of the downfalls of having a wonderfully busy life with two perfectly wild little boys is that it doesn't leave a lot of spare time to document all the fun we're having. Even if it's not as good as I wish it was...not as much description or as many details as would like, I feel like I've got to get something down about these early years for the boys (and for me) to look back on and jog all the good memories we've made.

So here we go....hold onto your hats!

MAY:

Getting a picture of these two together is NOT easy!

Finn is so helpful....not!

We visited Nanny and Dody. Henry took his first ride in a swing and LOVED IT! We hadn't seen that much smiling and laughing yet, so that was really special. Dody was in Chicago (the musical, not the city) and Finn thought it was really neat to go see her all dressed up before her performance. There was a huge full moon while we were there and Finn (a fully devoted lover of the moon) was so excited to see it. It's been awesome to watch him discover the world around him.

 Sweet boy!

June:

We took a trip to visit Columbia which was great fun as usual.

Has a more photogenic child ever existed? I think not!

 Wheeee!!!!

A real treat this month was seeing the Tate's who were visiting Summerville. It was brief, but any time with them is worth the trip! Henry isn't showing his true joy in this picture.....

Matt fished for cobia. If he could make a living fishing, he would do it.

Granny (G.G. to the boys) visited us and we loved seeing her.

Finn remained totally enamored with his little brother. He always asked "where's Henbo?" first thing in the morning and liked to have conversations with him.

 High-five Henbo!

Finn loves chocolate! My child indeed!

Even though I wasn't always the best at posting or sharing pictures online I did take A LOT!

Finn wasn't always cooperative!

Henbo usually was! :) At the non-mobile but very smiley stage, he was my best model!

                                                          Loving that tongue Henbo!

Finn loves throwing the ball for Myrtle.

In June, we had a "super-moon" and Finn was psyched! The anticipation leading up to it almost killed us both! We waited and waited for it to come up that night and when it finally appeared we were spell-bound. The pictures definitely don't do it justice.

Finn felt like he could literally reach out and touch it.

The boys gained a new little cousin in June...Cate Smith! She's a doll!!!

July:

We had a big July. Dody came for Independence Day weekend and we went downtown to the Children's Museum. They have so much to do outside and the weather was perfect!

We had a get-together on the 4th and Finn and Henry experienced their first fireworks. Henry wasn't impressed, but Finn was super excited once he got over the shock of the first few. He kept saying "POW! POW!!!" We had a free show from the dock....we could see in all directions and once it was dark there was constant action. :)

A quick kiss during Henbo's 4 month photo shoot.

Matt's classmate and his kids stopped through on their way to Disney and we had the opportunity to show them the ocean for the first time! Now THAT was amazing! Finn loved having the bigger kids here to play with.

Mid-July we went on a whirlwind tour of the Carolinas. We stopped in Columbia, headed to Rock Hill to see my Grandmother, headed up to Highlands, NC to see Papa and Anne, then back through Columbia. WHEW! It was exhausting but so so so worth it.

Feeding the geese in Highlands was a major highlight for Finn.

Highlands is beautiful and we got to visit a really neat waterfall. The photo-ops were fantastic! The photo subjects....not so much....

Everyone loves Papa!

A close second to the geese was riding in Papa's golf cart!

Papa took us to see where he and Anne got married. Beautiful!

Back in Columbia with Bop!

Henbo tried cereal for the first time this month....loved it! Of course!

Finn discovered cherries...delicious!

My sweet snuggly boy. I'll miss these days when they're over.

Look at those chunky legs! I LOVE THEM!

Finn is getting so much more adventurous and brave. He found out he really likes bouncy houses and slides. :)

Another new cousin in July! Welcome Sadie Gault! We are so in love with you!

August:

More fun times! We went for a boat ride while Dody was in town the first weekend in August. If it's possible, I think this hat makes Henry look even cuter than usual!

The sun and the wind wiped Finn out and he took a long nap. So peaceful!

Finn and Henry created birthday gifts for my mom and granny at the pottery place. They painted a vase for their G.G. (see how Henry is helping in the background? Helping by sleeping so that I can attempt to keep Finn from eating the paint!). And they made a silver clay necklace for Nanny with their fingerprints. Good job boys!

Henbo's personality is coming out more and more! He loves to smile and laugh.

He also loves his big brother. EVERYTHING Finn does is just a hoot in Henry's opinion!

 And eating....he still LOVES eating!!!

Finn likes having his picture taken (most of the time) and wants to make funny faces and then see what he looked like on your phone. This night the flash was making him blink every time so I told him to open his eyes as wide as he could. Obviously, he thought I meant his mouth! We laughed about this for a good 10 minutes!

Since our office is closed on Mondays, I try to go and do something really fun with the boys every week that doesn't include errands/laundry/cleaning the house. We decided to take a day trip to Charleston since Finn hadn't been to the aquarium yet. Luckily Aunt Dody was able to meet us and we had a GREAT day!

Here's Finn showing Henry the harbor. He likes to share everything with Henry and we hear him saying "Wook Henwy!" all the time!

 Oh how I miss Charleston!

We took another day trip, but this time to Jekyll Island (just south of here) and this time daddy went with us! We had lunch on the pier then went to the Turtle Center (one of our all-time favorite things to do), then walked on the beach for a few minutes. It was a fantastic day! I'm so blessed to have a husband who wants to take the kids to do fun things as much as I do. I am SO looking forward to a lifetime of adventures!!!

Finn is telling Henbo all about the big turtles he sees.

We had professional pictures taken this month. I think they came out great! Are Henry and Matt twins or what?!?
