Wow, blogger has a new format and it is sort of throwing me for a loop tonight! And I don't need any more loops right now, that is for certain! Things are just so dang busy trying to get the house ready to go on the market. If I had 100 days straight to stay here and get things done I still don't think I could do it. But anyway, that is not why I'm posting! I am here to write about our trip to Boston. Matt had the annual endodontics conference and I went and met him there for the end of the week. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!

It was awesome, but sort of sad too. It was the first time I left Finn and that was a little tough. I knew he was in great hands (Kim's and then my mom's), but I missed his sweet face. It gave me a taste of what Matt deals with on a daily basis, and I do not envy him one bit. Sometimes Finn is crying and the dogs are barking and the TV just got really loud and I'm starving because I worked through lunch and the dishwasher breaks just as the doorbell rings, and I think "where in the hell is my husband to help me with all of this???".....but I don't even envy him then. Because missing Finn stinks. It is kind of like a homesickness. A yucky, down in your gut, physical feeling that settles right between your belly button and your ribs. But when I got home, the look on his face was priceless. And he hugged me! And I was all better.

So like I said, Boston was soooooo fun! We definitely did it right and squeezed as much into the few days we were there as possible. One of my favorite things was the Red Sox game. I don't care too much about baseball (I know, blasphemy from the wife of such an avid Braves fan), but I do love being outside, peanuts/hotdogs/popcorn, and beer in plastic cups. I also love cheering wildly and loudly when everyone else does. I'm such a fan when I have to be.

We also ate some really delicious food. Boston has a little Italy area and oh boy. Not only was the restaurant superb, but the canoli's we got afterwards....legendary. There isn't a flavor you can think of that they didn't have.

I did some sight-seeing alone while Matt was in class and truly enjoyed the time to myself. I love hanging out with friends and in big groups, and of course adore being with Finn but it is sometimes nice to just answer to no one.

Here are the pictures of all our Boston adventures.

We met Matt's cousin Chase at Harvard, where he is a senior, and he showed us around. It was such a cool campus and very beautiful too. Here is the freshman dining hall!!! Our cafeteria at College of Charleston didn't look quite like this....

Then he took us to a real live college party. It was hysterical. We were the oldest people there by 10 years. But we had blast watching all the "kids". We also drank beer out of actual pitchers for 4 bucks.

There were lots of friends we knew that were there also so I didn't have to shop alone! My friend Megan and I had a great time walking and shopping in the boutiques downtown.

Matt met us for lunch at this outdoor cafe and I had a greek salad sandwich....yum!

We walked miles and miles on this day. Boston has a lot of very well-kept green space and parks.

We went to Cheers....the show wasn't actually filmed there but apparently it's the bar the show was named after.

Here we are in Little Italy

This is at the Union Oyster House, the oldest continually open restaurant in America! Established in 1826. We saw this huge 13 pound lobster there. Wonder who had him for dinner???

This is one of the "dorms" for the Boston University students. Nice!

All the architecture was beautiful. So much detail.

When we had lunch the day after I got there, it was the first time Matt and I had eaten out by ourselves (without Finn) since he was born. It was kind of crazy! And fun! We went to this awesome place called Betty's Wok and Noodle Diner. It was a Latino-Asian fusion restaurant. Soooooo good!!!! That's one thing I really love about big cities. If you can imagine it or crave it, you can probably eat it!

This was the special "Moon Tea". The bottle below that was a yummy half and half lemonade tea. They were both good, but this southern girl isn't giving up her regular old sweet tea just yet.....you know, the kind with sugar already IN it?

More beautiful buildings......

And tulips...they were everywhere and looked almost fake they were so perfect. The weather was perfect too by the way. It was supposed to rain the whole time, but lo and behold it was gorgeous!

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." - Matthew 19:14

Here's the children's museum. Can you spot Arthur on top? I want to go back and take Finn one day.

We took a duck tour. A "duck" is a bus that turns into a boat that takes you around the harbor. We enjoyed it and it was a good way to get a condensed version of all of Boston's history.

It was a great trip and I'm so glad I went. Boston is a super cool city! Just like any time I'm away, I was glad to get home. And this time even more so....I couldn't wait to give my Finn a squeeze.
