Valentine's Day Picture Failure

I wrote this before Henry came and forgot to post!

Guess how cooperative a sixteen month old is when you want him to hold a heart and smile sweetly for a picture......NOT AT ALL! Well, at least this little one wasn't. What was I even thinking? We resorted to plan B for our Valentine's this year, but I thought the pictures were too funny not to share.

 The set up.

Ok, now open your eyes and hold the heart up Finn!

 Ummm, sort of...

 Aaaannnnddd, he threw it.

How about another try? This is actually the best one we got.

That's upside down silly. Can't you read?

In flight again!

What a wise mommy! She tried to tape it to me!

Doesn't she know I'm too smart for that?

 See ya duct tape!

Then he ripped it. By this point I knew that was coming.

How about this tiny heart mom???

It smells nice!

So anyway, maybe next year my idea will actually come to life like it looks in my head. Probably not, but at least we'll get another good laugh!

Grandparents

I wrote this before Henry came and forgot to post!

I know I say this a lot, but Finn is the luckiest guy to have so many grandparents and even great-grandparents who love him. Grandparents and grandchildren share this special love that is unlike any other on earth.

We went to visit my grandmother in Rock Hill in January. She is 99 years old and still going strong. She said that Finn is the cutest baby she's ever seen.  :)  Clearly, she's right. And not biased at all of course.

My grandmother's apartment is very small, and especially when we are all packed in there together, it tends to bring out a wilder side in Finn. See above photo for illustration.

Finn and grandmother share a secret.

And a snack!

She took him on a ride in the hallway.

How funny and sweet is this??? They are best buds.  :)

Then we got a really special treat when Matt's grandparents Papa and Anne stopped through for the night on the home from Florida. Finn was enamored with them! He kept saying "Papa, Papa" and still says it all the time! They have lots of grand and great grandchildren, so we are usually sharing them when we get the chance to visit, but this time we had them all to ourselves. It was wonderful!

Tiff's Going Away....Whahhhh!!!

I wrote this before Henry came and forgot to post!

My very best friend in the whole world has lived in Charleston her whole life (we were roommates for 10 years!), and now the airforce is transferring them to Wichita, Kansas. My first thoughts were 1) NOOOOOOO!!!! and then 2) Well, I'll  just quit my job and join them! and then 3) No, that's too rash....I'll have to find a job there first and THEN quit. and then 4) No, that's not going to go over too well with my husband and child. I'll have to let them go without me. and then 5) NOOOOOOO!!!!!

But seriously, I knew this was going to be a big change. And who likes change? However I wasn't worried then and I'm not worried now that it is going to change a single thing between us. There isn't a whole lot we haven't been through standing by each other's side, and whether she is just down the hall or 1,200 miles away, we still have a lot of life to do together.

We had girls night to bid her farewell, and it was so much fun. We went and painted at Bottles n Brushes in Summerville and then went to a bar down the street for a few (more) drinks.

 Don't we look professional???

Tiff and Melissa were VERY serious about their artwork. Well, not really....but it could have been the beer punch....

Don't our lighthouses look like masterpieces? They asked us to come back and demonstrate our talent to the class anytime! Wellll, that's not true either. But we sure did have fun!

We love you Tiffany!!!!

Finnman

This entry is mainly just to brag about how darn cute our little man is. I am one of those that really does believe that all babies are cute. I mean, they are tiny people for crying out loud! Anything tiny is cute, am I right? But Finn's personality just makes him really special. And I love the fact that he is starting to talk and tell us things. His vocabulary is huge and he's also a little parrot, so be careful, he will repeat anything! His emotions are getting broader as well. He feels sympathy now, and is really a sweet little soul. I wondered out loud the other day if the circumference of my heart was going to be big enough to love another child like I love this one. I was assured that it will, and I do believe it. God has just blessed me so fully already.....it's hard to imagine even more.

This is a little spot where Finn likes to sit in our new house. Doesn't he look like a big boy?

"Uh-oh!" This was Finn's first and is still his favorite word. He has lots of uses for it....not just the typical use for an accident that has occurred. Many times, he will fall down on purpose or throw a toy/piece of food/temper tantrum and then say "Uh-ohhhh!".

When he first wakes up from a nap I love how his hair is a mess, and kissing those warm little cheeks is a joy I never even knew existed.

Henbo's Baby Shower

So I promised I'd get caught up on blogging before baby C #2 made his appearance.....this may not end up holding entirely true, but I figured it's 3 days before his arrival, what better do I have to do besides sit at my computer and blog?!? Well, I have lots I could be doing actually, but this is so much more fun than laundry.

We had a really hard time deciding on a name for this little guy! We "decided" on Bo but then I reneged. We talked and talked (= argued) about it for months and finally settled on Henry. I LOVE the name Henry and have really bonded with it now, but to this day Matt remains as determined as ever to call him Bo. So, of course we've been referring to him affectionately as Henbo. Hopefully this won't stick after he's born.  :)

Well, even though I said not to, my sweet sweet friends wanted to throw me a shower. It was for my adorable friend Morgan too, who is also on her second baby and due just days before I am. It's been fun to share the pregnancy experience with friends this time....I have 2 other friends due in March too!

The type of shower was the MOST incredible idea EVERRRRR!!!! We went to this place where you make freezer meals to take home with you. They provide everything you need. Morgan and I both came home with tons of stuff to stock the freezer. Nice!

Here we are ready to "cook" our meals.

 The cake...precious!

Everything was already measured out too. So easy and quick!

Two of the "chefs" Charlotte and Kelly.

Ashley is due on St. Patrick's Day! Doesn't she look great?

Wonder how many meals my mom has made me in my lifetime? Funny to think about.

Melissa and Tiffany were a great team. :)

Is there anything cuter than baby clothes? Especially the ones with something on the bottom!

It is simply not possible that anyone has friends and family as awesome as mine are!!! Love you girls!
